Change, motivation and power all come from within!
Although each and every one of us has a potential limit as it relates to our physical abilities, the reality is, very few of us ever even come close to reaching our potential! Ironically enough, the reasons most of us fail to near our potential is mental, and has little to nothing to do with our natural physical abilities.
One of the best examples that comes to mind is Roger Bannister breaking the 4 min. mile barrier. In 1955 Bannister broke a record that everyone thought would surely stand the test of time. While many runners in the previous decade leading up to that race in 1955 had come close to running a sub 4 minute mile nobody had been capable of breaking it.
Now, along comes Roger Bannister, a man with a plan and one more importantly with absolute conviction and belief that he could break the record. His achievement lead almost immediately to a number of others completing that one-mile race in under 4 min. within months.
The purpose behind sharing the Bannister story is to impress upon you the power of the mind as it relates to our physical achievements. Roger Bannister believed wholeheartedly that running a four-minute mile was possible. Immediately upon his doing so, other runners now saw what once was believed to be impossible, now absolutely achievable.
No matter what your goals, fitness related or otherwise, until your desire and want turns into sheer belief, there is a good chance you will fall well short of reaching your potential. Therefore, maybe it’s time to finally decide truly what it is you want and more importantly…WHY!
It all starts in the mind!
